Adding money to trades
When the AI refuses a trade, but says you are close, sometimes you can succeed by adding one of the other team's unused contracted players instead of offering one more player of your own - if you can afford to carry the additional salary and a no-name player on your minor league roster.
Not the same as offering cash only, but has the same effect. During a 1960 replay I picked up teenage prospect Tim McCarver and reliever Ted Abernathy for two faded veterans who the Senators initially refused. The team accepted after I agreed to take one of their one-star MRs, a fellow named Hector Maestri, and pay his minimal ML contract salary.
