Class of 2091: Hebner

Ahhhh...so good to see Mssr Hebner in a return to the HOF.

Richie Hebner was chosen by the Tigers with the 9th pick of the 2065 draft.

He broke in with a .303 BA, 12 HR, 62 RBI and 90 R in 2066.

In his sophomore season he won his first of two batting crowns with a .359 average and 40 HR.

In 2069 he had a career high 46 HR, a career high 142 RBI and a career high 131 runs scored, and took his first of two MVP awards.

In 2071 he batted .367 while again hitting 40 HR, 133 RBI and scoring 111 times. He hit a career high 45 doubles and posted a career high 1.128 OPS (npa OPS+ 204) to win his second MVP awards.

In 2072, Hebner played in his Free Agent season and again put to gether a solid season with 34 HR, 177 RBI and 104 R. With Eppa Rixey as the ace of the rotation, Hebner provided punch to the Tigers WS Championship team.

He left for KC and won a pennant with them, but came up short in the WS.

Imitating life, he signed as a Free Agent with the Cubs. He signed a seven year pact and finished his career in Wrigley. Of course, there were no more post seasons for Richie.

For his career he collected 2464 hits (68th, one less than Vin Campbell and four more than Fred McGriff), 447 HR and 1479 RBI (73rd, between Albert Belle and Home Run Baker).

He had 452 doubles (98th, 3 ahead of Benny Kauff), scored 1454 runs (57th, three behind Harry Lumley) and walked 913 times.
