Major Injury/Trade News

San Antonio SP Janne Koskimaki is
forced to retire after a second setback in rehab for a partially torn labrum. Koskimaki played in only one game for the Sharks: a 3/16 spring training game against Boise, where he went only 2/3 of an inning.

Salt Lake City trades 26-year old LF Benton Peck (1.5*/1.5*) to
Grand Rapids for 31-year-old C Chad Logan (1*/1*) and 20-year-old minor league 3B Donald Ross (.5*/1.5*). This year Logan is hitting .186 with 1 home run and 5 RBIs to his credit. He has gotten on base at a .293 clip and scored 4 runs. Currently Peck has 2 home runs and a .263 batting average.

Seattle CL Daniel Jackson out for
13 months with a torn labrum. For the year Jackson is 19/23 in save opportunities in 34 relief appearances with a 1-1 mark, a 1.78 ERA, and 13.8 K/9.

The PotW award for the Atlantic Conference went to
Chicagoland 3B Juan Ramirez. Ramírez certainly made his mark last week, punishing opposing pitchers with a .407 average, 11 hits in 27 at-bats, 4 home runs and 11 runs batted in. This year, Ramírez is hitting .255/.293/.457 with 44 RBIs and 15 home runs.
Pacific Conference
The PotW for the Pacific Conference this week was
San Diego CF Clifton Hutchison. The 27-year-old haunted opposing pitchers hitting .444 (12-for-27) with 4 home runs and 5 RBIs last week. In 79 games this season Hutchison is batting .274/.319/.476 with 91 hits and 16 home runs. He has scored 51 runs and driven in 35.
