TBF OOTP 14 and 16 have been much, much better in terms of stability. Huge improvement IMO, and I'm very glad of it. That alone is why I was so into those releases and why OOTP is my go-to game these days.
I used to get leagues shot out from under me all the time and it drove me absolutely nuts. And yes, I could back up but I'm the type of person that hates replaying something that I've already played. It's why I generally only play permadeath games when I'm not doing something sports management related.
All that said, why has this problem been so unique to OOTP? I've never completely lost a league in 14 years of FM play, or WMMA, or any other management game I've played. I've had crashes where I have to go back to a saved point, sure, but they never corrupt a save. What are these other games doing that OOTP isn't? Can this be replicated? It's not just DB size, since FM saves contain a lot of data too.
I was reluctant to post this because I might have jinxed my existing save now.
