Retire from professional baseball, return 3 years later?
Started up a MLB replay in 1946 with the intention of getting to 1960 and taking over an expansion team. Slow going with so many minor leagues, so in September of 1957 I decided to take over Cleveland, the worst team.
I saw that Washington was in first place with Mantle, Mathews and such in the lineup. And Harmon Killebrew at second, almost like real.
I then checked Cleveland's draft history and saw they had picked Killebrew #1 before the 1954 season. Looking to see what kind of terrible trade they'd made, I checked Killebrew's history and found something I've never seen before, nor understand.
He became a minor league free agent (They cut him?) and 'retired from professional baseball'.
Then, three years later, after not playing in 1955 and 1956, he shows up in AA ball, signs with the Senators and looks to be ROY.
How is it possible to retire and comeback after two seasons? I know he's young, but I've never seen that occur.
