Happens with Hall-Of-Famers all the time. Banks, Ruth, Gehrig, Walter Johnson, Aaron and a few more I checked.

I reported it as a bug several months ago. Markus says he cannot reproduce it.

So it may be a game setting that causes this but I cannot figure out which one.

Perhaps Rule 5 and Minor league options should be off and players set to be unable to refuse minor league assignments?
