When I first started playing, I usually left the draft up to the computer, but that only resulted in a poor farm system. After reading up on how player development works, I've worked out a pretty comprehensive draft strategy that gives my picks a purpose, even in the late rounds.

-Start by drafting the very talented prospects with normal to very good personality traits in the first few rounds.

-From then on, I draft players with "high" or "very high" work ethic or leadership who either have 50+ power (I use 20-80 scale) or throw 92-94 MPH and up.

I then hire coaches who like to develop power-focused talent. I like that having a consistent organizational philosophy yields benefits, which is a credit to the game. The fact that I can choose a mid-round pick because he throws hard and works hard, and then see him develop a nasty slider and become a shutdown closer, is fantastic.

But the whole process has become tedious, and I often make mistakes by drafting too many position players, or too many first basemen. I'd like to hand this responsibility back to the computer, but in a more directed way then just auto-drafting. If there was a way for me to give my Assistant GM a draft plan telling him what kind of players to prioritize, and what positions to look at most, it would be a huge improvement to the process. I'd be able to breeze through draft day without the tedium, but still maintain the strategy I've been using.

yes, a draft strategy would be AWESOME! The auto draft list function is far too cumbersome to actually use and benefit from.

I am curious though, why the focus on power? why not use Eye and the patience philosophy?
