Fan interest in 17 does not increase at all when trading for or signing new players , regardless of their popularity.

Extending a player and getting an interest boost DOES work.

Also, the fan interest does decrease when said players leave.

Hypothetical example of two teams trading "Extremely Popular" players - both would get fan interest hits and zero corresponding increase from the oncoming player.
