Pesky overachievers would be a good way to describe these Rangers so far as they head into the second game of the three in Kansas City.

The Rangers battle the odds again as they try to win their fourth straight. The two starting pitchers are a combined 0-5 this season.
The Rangers scratch out a run in the top of the first as Dave Nelson brings home Elliott Maddox with a sac fly.
Freddie Patek led off the bottom of the first with a single to run his hit streak to 11 games. Scheinblum then brought him home with a double before scoring the go ahead run himself on a Mayberry groundout.
A throwing error by Nelson in the third allowed Patek to score for the second time in the game.
After three: Kansas City 3 Texas 1
Schaal added to the Royals lead with a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth.
Frank Howard cut the lead to just a single run with a 2 RBI single in the top of the sixth.
But in the bottom of the sixth, Schienblum added to more RBI with a base hit off of Paul Lindblad. The runs were, however, charged to Stanhouse.
After six: Kansas City 6 Texas 3.
Bullpens dominated the final three innings.
Final score: Kansas City 6 Texas 3.
