The Rangers end the season with three games in Kansas City against the Royals. A double header today and the season finale tomorrow. Because it is a makeup game, the Rangers will pose as the home team in the first game of the double header. Kansas City leads the season series 10-5.

Billings put the Rangers on the board in the bottom of the first with an RBI single.

In the bottom of the third, Rooker struck out Harrah for his 60th K of the season.

After three: Texas 1 Kansas City 0.

Oliver changed the score dramatically in the top of the fourth with a 3-run homer. The Royals went on to load the bases with one out and then Rooker got his first RBI of the season by drawing a walk. Patek did the same to get his 40th RBI of the season. 10 Royals came to the plate in the inning and 5 of them scored.

Billings answered in the bottom of the fifth with his 20th RBI of the season. Howard followed up with a 2-run homer and Texas had cut the deficit to a single run.

The Royals loaded the bases with nobody out in the top of the sixth. Pinch hitter Steve Hovley became the third KC batter in the game to draw a bases loaded walk. That was the end for Stanhouse as he was replaced by Jim Panther. Panther inherited bases loaded no outs but got out of it without giving up anymore runs.

Monty Montgomery took over pitching duties for the Royals in the bottom of the sixth.

After six: Kansas City 6 Texas 4.

Billings tried to add another RBI in the bottom of the seventh but Biittner was thrown out at home trying to score from second.

Tom Burgmeier took the mound for the Royals in the bottom of the eighth. Pinch hitter Jeff Burroughs led off with a single, the 10th hit of the game for the Rangers.

Casey Cox took the mound for the Rangers in the top of the ninth.

Final score: Kansas City 6 Texas 4.

The Rangers were looking to take the lead in the top of the third but Maddox was thrown out at home trying to score from second on a Burroughs single.

After three: Texas 0 Kansas City 0.

The Rangers loaded the bases with nobody out in the top of the fourth. Lovitto brought all three home with a triple to go over 20 RBI for the season. Suarez then grounded out but brought home Lovitto. Busby finally ended the inning by striking out Maddox for his 40th K of the season.

Mayberry cut the lead in half in the bottom of the sixth with a 2-run homer.

After six: Texas 4 Kansas City 2.

Casey Cox came on to pitch the seventh for the Rangers.

In the bottom of the eighth, Otis made it a 1-run game with a solo home run. Paul Lindblad replaced Cox and got the final out of the inning.

Lovitto singled to lead off the top of the ninth to give the Rangers 10 hits in the game. With a runner at first and two out, Ken Wright replaced Busby on the mound and got the final out.

Lindblad held the Royals scoreless in the bottom of the ninth.

Final score: Texas 4 Kansas City 3.
