Powell put the Orioles on the board in the top of the first with an RBI single. Blair followed up with a 3-run homer. Stanhouse struck out the next batter, Johnson, for his 10th. K of the season. The Orioles sent 9 men to the plate in the innning.
Maddox got the Rangers on the board with an RBI double in the bottom of the second. Billings added a sacrifice fly for an RBI. Kubiak then hit an RBI double to make it a 1-run game.

Palmer struck out Mason in the bottom of the fourth for his 50th K of the season.
With runners at first and second and nobody out in the top of the sixth, Mike Garman came in to replace Stanhouse on the mound for the Rangers.

Bumbry led off the top of the seventh with a double for the Orioles 10th hit of the game. Grich followed up with a single to stretch his hit streak to 12 games. Powell walked and the bases were loaded with no outs. Johnson brought in a run with a sacrifice fly. Robinson added an RBI single.
Paul Lindblad came in to pitch for the Rangers with two out in the top of the eighth.
The Orioles loaded the bases with two out in the top of the ninth. Baylor then extended his hit streak to 20 games with a 3-run double.
