The homestand ends today against the Red Sox. A win today would give the Rangers a winning record on this homestand. Jeff Burroughs is still second in voting for All Star at RF. Despite having the second best bullpen ERA in the American League, none of the Rangers RP are in the top five in All Star voting.

Harrah got the Rangers on the board in the bottom of the first with an RBI single.
In the top of the third, the Red Sox loaded the bases with one out. An error on a Fisk ground ball tied the game. Rain began to fall as Smith gave the Red Sox the lead with a sacrifice fly.
The rain stopped in the bottom of the third.
After three: Boston 2 Texas 1.
In the top of the fourth, Garcia hit his 10th double of the season. Petrocelli got an RBI groundout.
After six: Boston 3 Texas 1.
Fisk hit a solo home run in the top of the seventh to bring his RBI total on the season to 20. Smith followed up with a single to give the Red Sox 10 hits for the game. Evans then hit an RBI triple. Aparicio scored him on a single and with a runner on first and one out, Bosman was pulled for Mike Garman.
The Rangers loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the seventh. Curtis struck out Burroughs for his 50th K of the season. Harrah then flew out to end the inning.
Rain began to fall again in the top of the eighth, bringing on a 56 minute rain delay.
Bobby Bolin took the mound for the Red Sox in the bottom of the eighth. Howard hit a solo home run.
Garman struck out Smith to start the ninth for his 20th K of the season.
The Rangers loaded the bases with two out in the bottom of the ninth. But Biittner grounded out to end the game.
Final score: Boston 6 Texas 2.
