JUNE 26, 1973
Only the 1973 Texas Rangers could have a pitcher give up 4 home runs in one game and leave the game with a lower ERA than he entered it with. That happened to Dick Bosman last night. The Rangers have now won 5 of their last 7 and are two ninth innings away from having a 7-game winning streak. This against the top three teams in the AL West. They end their 2-game series tonight against the Athletics.

The top of the fourth brought on a 17 minute rain delay. Campaneris then walked for the Athletics first baserunner of the game. One out later and Rudi had Oakland's first hit of the game. A two-out walk loaded the bases but Bando flew out to center to retire the side.
Epstein put the Athletics on the board in the top of the fifth with a run-scoring double.
Rudi tied the game with a leadoff home run in the top of the sixth.
However, Howard gave the Rangers the lead back with a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth. He tied Burroughs for the team lead with 13 home runs on the season.

The Athletics got the tying run to second in the top of the ninth but Gogolewski ended the game by striking out Rudi. That gave Gogolewski his 20th K of the season, Kobel his first career victory and the Rangers a 2-game sweep of the Athletics.
