The New York Islanders (7-14-2) come to the Bell Center to face the struggling Montreal Canadiens (12-12-1) Montreal won the only meeting this season 3-2. Montreal will have all 3 of the call ups in the line-up.


The struggling Canadiens struggle's continue. The Islanders open up the scoring on a break away at 0:29 as LW Ron Oxford gets his 9th of the year past G Martin King. The Islanders go up 2-0 on the PP as C Aleksandr Enukidze gets his 7th of the year from in tight. The period ends with the Islanders leading the shots on goal 11-9.


The Islanders extend the lead to 3-0 at 10:20 of the 2nd as C Aleksandr Enukidze gets his 2nd of the night on a shot from the right point. The period ends with the shots 19-17 for the Islanders.


The Canadiens have RD Steven Thornton limp off the ice with an leg injury just 4 minutes into the 3rd period. Montreal are getting badly out played and the Islanders put them out of their mercy with a 4-0 goal at 18:21 of the 3rd, C WIlliam Roos with his 4th of the year on a tip in from in close. The game ends with the shots 34-21 for the Islanders.

Montreal gets more bad news. Canadiens leading scorer C Patrick Atkins will miss up to 3 months with a torn hip labrum that was sustained in practice. The 21 year old had 15 goals and 26 points with 22 PIMs and a +9 rating in 26 games.
