However, if I use the 19th century teams file, I get a historical team import failed error every time.

If I use the vanilla teams file, I am unable to select any teams to import.

Can someone with the patience of Job help walk me through the process of setting up a historically accurate 1871 simulation, using Spritze's new OOTP18 database and ideally the teams file at the top of this thread?

I've read the entire thread a few times and I can't see anything I'm missing. I've copied the files over from the downloads, overwritten the existing vanilla OOTP files and started a fresh game, gotten the game loaded, then I go to Edit League Structure, to remove the fake OOTP teams and add in the real teams, and that's where everything goes wrong.

Thanks in advance!
They kinda mess things up for 19th century play in 18. You pretty much have to do everything manually unless your ok with duplicate players and every team becoming an expansion team when you turn on automatic expansion.

I would advise using version 17 if you want to start in 1871 as it possible to get rookies going to correct teams and when you switch to auto expansion it doesn't make all your current teams go defunct.

You can use 17 and sim from 1871-1900 and the import the league into 18 and turn on auto expansion. It will not have the all teams folding issue but you may find duplicate players.

I have a spreadsheet of transactions of players, managers and owners i use. Its pretty simple and doesn't take me long to use each year but version 18 is what makes it a pain to do.
