Robinson Rides Into San Antonio
Stallions make athletic second baseman top draft pick

SAN ANTONIO (November 5, 2018) -- Not much went right for the San Antonio Stallions in the ABL's first season. As such, nobody needed a strong draft more than the Stallions.

Enter Jackie Robinson.

The Stallions made the highly touted second baseman their number one pick in the 2018 amateur draft, and in so doing are hoping to kick off a rapid turnaround.

San Antonio hit .246 last season and a quick fix seems unlikely. The choice of Robinson presents an interesting side story as well...what becomes of Craig Biggio.

The incumbent second baseman, Biggio led the team in average (.277). Where will he end up? Centerfield and catcher are two possibilities. The third is designated hitter, replacing Wally Berger who was at the heart of controversy last season.

Regardless, the story is Robinson, a borderline five-tool player, though his power is not considered top flight. But the multisport collegiate star is solid both offensively and defensively and figured to improve the Stallions from the get-go.
