In the top of the first, Burroughs delivered a solo home run.

In the top of the third, play was stopped for a 56 minute rain delay. When play resumed, Rooker struck out Grieve for his 20th K of the season.

Halicki began the bottom of the fourth by striking out Patek for his 30th K of the season.

In the top of the fifth, Burroughs took the team lead in home runs on the season with a two-run shot, his second of the game.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Royals loaded the bases with two out. But Patek lined out to short to end the inning.

After six: Texas 3 Kansas City 0.

In the top of the seventh, Suarez scored from second when the Royals committed a throwing error on a grounder to third by Nelson. Nelson then scored from second on a Harrah single. A walk put runners at first and second with one out and Mike Hedlund was brought in to pitch for the Royals. Grieve then singled to load the bases with one out. Maddox grounded back to the pitcher who got the force at home for the second out. Dent doubled to bring home two for the Rangers 10th hit of the game. Nine Rangers came to bat in the inning.

In the top of the ninth, the Rangers loaded the bases with one out. Mangual then brought all three of them home with a triple. Mangual then scored on a Kubiak groundball that was muffed for the Royals third error of the game.

Halicki got the complete game shutout on a 6-hitter.

Final score: Texas 11 Kansas City 0.
