The
Leafs are ready for the Cup, and come out on fire.
Bobby Hull,
Jean Ratelle and
Norm Ferguson all score in the first period, setting the tone for an easy 4-1
Toronto win. Against a team like
Toronto,
Chicago can’t afford to fall down so early.
Chicago does not fall behind early in game two.
Toronto doesn’t score until the 2nd period, very late.
Garry Unger gets one in the final seconds. The
Leafs expand the lead early in the third, and add the kill shot off the stick of
Garry Unger late. 3-0
Leafs win.

Unger gets two in the Leafs game two win!
In
Chicago Stadium, the
Blackhawks do a great job in shutting down the
Toronto offense. The
Leafs are held to just 24 shots, and 2 goals. Unfortunately for them, the
Toronto's Dunc Wilson stopped all 24 shots he faced, earning his 2nd straight shutout! 2-0
Leafs win. Facing the four game sweep,
Chicago does not start off well, going down 2-0 after a period. They get some fightback though in the 2nd. After a third
Toronto goal,
Andre Lacroix and
Ivan Boldirev cut the lead to one.
Boldirev would tie the game early in the third, only to see
Toronto’s Jean-Guy Lagace take the lead back a minute later. The
Leafs clamp down the rest of the way, and are able to hold off
Chicago.
Toronto wins 4-3, and sweeps the series!
