Stinson hit .1.000 with his 1 for 1 performance this season. Stinson was named the MLB's 52nd ranked prospect in April 1970. The 28 year old

Curt Flood. Flood refused to report to the Phillies and later sued he MLB challenging the MLB's reserve clause. The Cardinals are claiming that the deal has nothing to do with the controversy that follows Allen, its about needing a second baseman in getting Sizemore.
The Washington Senators have traded SS
Ed Brinkman, 3B
Aurelio Rodriquez, SP
Joe Coleman and RP
Jim Hannan to the Detroit Tigers in exchange for SP
Denny McLain, 3B

A 1st round pick in 1965, he was selected 3rd overall, Coleman was called up in September by the Senators as an 18 year old beating

The free spirited McLain had a strained relationship with team mates and with managers and fans. This may have been as a result of his tough home life. McLain hit a HR in his MLB debut in 1963, in real life it was his only HR he hit in the Majors. With endorsements with Pepsi and Hammond Organs, by age 22 McLain was making more money off the the field then on. Baseball and life took a change of direction when in February of 1970 it was suspected that McLain had ties to the Mob and had invested into a book making operation. MLB commissioner
Bowie Kuhn suspended McLain while he conducted an investigation which involved at the time well know gangster
Tony Giacalone. Due to the suspension and that his lawyer misappropriated much of his income, McLain was suddenly broke and was forced to file for bankruptcy. McLain was reinstated into baseball on July 1st, 1970 after Kuhn's investigation. Detroit had enough of McLain and moved him to the Senators to duel with
Ted Williams. The 32 year old
Wert hit .225 with 5 HRs and 31 RBIs in 124 games for the Tigers. Wert was an AL All Star in 1968. The 23 year old
