The Cubs have gotten on a roll, winning five in a row and nine out of their last ten. Today they begin a four game home series against the Philadelphia Phillies. The Phillies have won seven of their last nine. This is the first meeting between these two teams.

Magee got the scoring started with a two run triple in the top of the first. Hofman then dropped a fly ball, allowing Magee to score from third.

In the bottom of the first, Schulte extended his hit streak to 14 games with a run scoring single. Schulte was then thrown out trying to swipe second. It was the 10th caught base stealer this season for Dooin.

In the bottom of the fourth, Doolan dropped a Tinker popup, allowing Schulte to score from third.

In the bottom of the ninth, the Cubs put runners on first and second but pinch hitter Johnny Kling flew out to left to end the Cubs five game winning streak.
