07/11/1975 - Game 2 - Multi-HR Game for Kingman in 7-5 Win

The New York Mets grabbed a 7-5 win over the Cincinnati Reds at Riverfront Stadium. New York first baseman Dave Kingman was 2-4 with 2 home runs and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice to earn player of the game honors. New York starter Jerry Koosman was credited with the win after throwing 102 pitches over 7 innings. His record now stands at 8-6. Bob Apodaca got the save, his 13th in 16 chances.

Kingman had a big at-bat with runners on 1st and 3rd in the top of the fifth inning, when he hit a 3-run home run off LHP Don Gullett. He had a solo HR off LHP Don Gullett in the prior inning. The Mets went on to win.

"We took advantage of our opportunities," Kingman told the New York News. "It's as simple as that."

New York, now 43-44, holds third place in the NL East Division.
