07/23/1975 - Extra-Inning Win by Reds over Mets
The Cincinnati Reds picked up a win at Shea Stadium (NL), knocking off the New York Mets, 5-2. Starting pitcher Don Gullett played a key role in the triumph. Pedro Borbon was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 3 of 3 save opportunities. Cincinnati has now won 3 in a row.
George Foster's at-bat in the top of the 12th inning was a big one for Cincinnati. Coming to bat with two out, the bases loaded and Cincinnati leading 3-2, the center fielder reached on an error by the SS, driving in 1 run.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Gullett said.
On a positive note for the Mets, slugger Dave Kingman's recent home run tear continued with a solo shot off LHP Don Gullett.
