08/28/1975 - Mets Win at Los Angeles, 5-1

New York got a strong outing from Skip Lockwood as the Mets defeated the Los Angeles Dodgers, 5-1, at Dodger Stadium. In 8 innings, Lockwood surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 3. He allowed 1 run. The third-place Mets now have a win-loss record of 63-71.

Dave Kingman, who leads the NL in home runs with 29, aided the New York cause with a 2-run home run in the top of the first off LHP Doug Rau. For the game, the first baseman was 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.

"We cashed in when we had the chance," said New York manager.
