04/18/1976 - Parker Hits 2 home runs in Pirates Win

The Pittsburgh Pirates stopped the New York Mets, 9-1, behind an impressive performance from Dave Parker. The top prospect made life miserable for New York pitching. He was 3 for 4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 3. Bruce Kison earned the win to go to 1-1. He allowed 1 earned run on 4 hits, with 5 walks and 4 strikeouts. At 5-2, the Pirates have played well so far.

Al Oliver chipped in for Pittsburgh with a 2-run single in the bottom of the first. For the game, the center fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 4 RBI.

Kingman touched up RHP Bruce Kison for a solo shot.
