06/11/1976 - Milner Excels in New York Win

Spirited fans at Candlestick Park greeted the San Francisco Giants for their clash with the New York Mets.

The New York Mets defeated the San Francisco Giants, 11-5, at Candlestick Park. New York left fielder John Milner was named player of the game for his superb performance. He went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and 2 walks, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. The Mets sit in third place in the NL East Division with a record of 29-31.

Del Unser, who is a three-time Great Glove Award winner, aided the New York cause with a run-scoring walk in the top of the first. For the game, the center fielder was 1-3 with 2 walks. Slugger Dave Kingman added a 3-run homer off RHP John D'Acquisto and had 4 total RBI on the day.

"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Milner said after the game.
