San Francisco Giants starter Rob Dressler pitched a strong game against the New York Mets at Candlestick Park, leading the Giants to a 5-4 win. Gary Lavelle notched his 3rd save in 3 chances. San Francisco occupies third place in the NL West Division at 31-30.

The Giants got a big at-bat from left fielder Gary Thomasson. For the game, Thomasson went 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 4th home run of the season gave San Francisco a 5-2 lead.

Kingman homered off RHP Randy Moffitt in a late inning comeback attempt that fell short.
