Bruce Boisclair made an impact in the 9-4 New York win over Los Angeles. Boisclair, who is tied for 5th in the NL with a .341 batting average, was 3-4 with a triple, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 3 times. Tom Seaver earned the win to go to 4-1. He allowed 4 earned runs on 10 hits, with 1 walk and 4 strikeouts. New York goes to 17-7 with the win.
The Mets got a big at-bat from second baseman Lenny Randle. For the game, Randle went 1-4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI. In the top of the third, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run double. His 3rd double of the season gave New York a 3-1 lead.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Randle told the New York News.
Kingman homered off RHP Dennis Lewallyn.
