06/01/1977 - Montreal Bats Silenced by Matlack
The New York Mets bested the Montreal Expos 6-0 today behind the 5-hit pitching of left-hander Jon Matlack. The New York hurler had 6 strikeouts and no walks in going the distance.
"Pitching 9 innings is never easy, but it's rewarding on a day like today," Matlack said.
For the season Matlack has compiled a 6-2 record with a 2.88 ERA. He got all the offense he needed from slugger Dave Kingman's 3-run blast off LHP Dan Warthen.
