06/27/1977 - Padres Come Up Short at Houston
The Houston Astros racked up a win at Astrodome, bumping off the San Diego Padres, 3-2. Doug Konieczny, who started for Houston, pitched effectively for his team. The losing streak for San Diego has now reached 4 games.
Houston took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning. With no one out, pinch hitter Leon Roberts hit a solo home run that set the crowd abuzz.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," RHP Konieczny said after the game. My only mistake was that hanger to Kingman.
