San Diego Padres starter Bob Shirley was definitely locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Montreal Expos, 7-1. San Diego has now won 5 games in a row.
Shirley made it look effortless. He scattered 4 hits over 8.1 innings, while racking up 9 strikeouts. The San Diego left-hander encountered little resistance from the Montreal hitters. His season record is now 9-7.
"We had a good game plan," Shirley said, "and we were able to execute it."
Kigman hit the first pitch he saw from RHP Santo Alcala for a solo shot.
