04/25/1978 - Cubs Get Road Win, 8-5

The Chicago Cubs overcame a good performance by Philadelphia first baseman Richie Hebner to knock off Philadelphia, 8-5, at Veterans Stadium. Hebner went 3 for 4 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. Dennis Lamp picked up the win with 7 innings of work. He allowed 5 earned runs on 11 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 4. On the season, he is now 1-2. The Phillies, now 8-7, continue their sluggish start.

Dave Kingman swatted a 3-run home run for Chicago in the top of the third off LHP Steve Carlton. The first baseman went 2 for 5 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 1 run and batted in 4.

"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Kingman.
