05/03/1978 - Multi-HR Game for Kingman in 13-2 Win
The Chicago Cubs powered past the Los Angeles Dodgers, 13-2, at Wrigley Field. Dave Kingman was 3 for 4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He scored 3 runs and drove in 5, to lead the charge. Paul Reuschel got the win, improving to 1-2. He pitched 5.1 innings, giving up 4 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 4 and walking 3. The Cubs, with just their 8th win so far in 1978, have yet to catch fire.
Kingman had a key at-bat for Chicago early in the game. With a runner on 2nd, he hit a 2-run home run off RHP Don Sutton. It was his 7th home run of the season and gave Chicago an early 2-0 lead. He homered again off RHP Don Sutton in the 2nd inning to blow the game wide open.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Chicago manager.
