San Francisco beat Chicago on the strength of starter Vida Blue's fine effort. The left-hander led his team to a 5-3 win. The Giants bumped their record to 57-46 with this latest triumph.
San Francisco won the game in the bottom of the tenth inning. With one out and Manny Seoane on the mound for Chicago, first baseman Mike Ivie hit a dramatic 2-run home run, bringing Giants fans to their feet.
Blue told a San Francisco Observer reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
Kingman homered off LHP Vida Blue.
