Mike Krukow pitched a gem to lead Chicago to a 3-1 victory over the Montreal Expos. Krukow went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 2, and struck out 6. His record improves to 11-10. Chicago has now won 5 in a row.

Dave Kingman, who leads the NL with a .540 slugging percentage, aided the Chicago cause with a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth off LHP Rudy May. For the game, the first baseman was 1-3 with a home run.

Krukow said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
