The Chicago Cubs trumped the Pittsburgh Pirates, 5-3, at Wrigley Field. Chicago first baseman Dave Kingman was named player of the game for his performance. He went 2 for 4 with a home run off LHP John Candelaria. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Mike Krukow was the winning pitcher.
