The Chicago Cubs dealt the Atlanta Braves a 14-7 loss at Wrigley Field. Bobby Murcer was the star on offense. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 3 runs and drove in 4. Chicago is now riding a 3-game win streak.
Dave Kingman, who leads the NL with a .903 OPS, aided the Chicago cause with a 3-run home run in the bottom of the seventh off LHP Jamie Easterly. For the game, the first baseman went 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once.
