he Chicago Cubs stopped the Philadelphia Phillies, 6-5, at Wrigley Field. The Cubs got a big game from Bobby Murcer, who was 3 for 4 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. The losses continue to mount for Philadelphia, which has now dropped 6 in a row.
Murcer had a game-changing single in the bottom of the ninth. On a first pitch curveball from Horacio Pina, he banged a run-scoring single to center, giving the Cubs a 6-5 lead. It was the 151st hit of the year for Murcer.
Kingman homered off RHP Dan Larson.
