The St. Louis Cardinals dealt the Chicago Cubs a 7-6 loss at Wrigley Field. George Hendrick was the star on offense. He went 2 for 3 with a triple and 2 walks, while scoring 3 times. The Cardinals bumped their record to 78-73 with this latest triumph.
Terry Kennedy aided the St. Louis cause with a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh. For the game, the catcher was 2 for 5 with a double.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Hendrick told the St. Louis Bulletin.
Kingman homered off LHP Pete Falcone.
