09/25/1978 - Pirates Losing Streak at 8 After Extra-Inning Loss to Cubs

Chicago first baseman Dave Kingman was a significant contributor in his team's 6-1 triumph over the Pittsburgh Pirates. He hit 2 home runs - the first off RHP Don Robinson, and later off LHP Grant Jackson. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice for Chicago. Rick Reuschel, credited with the win, is now 10-1. He allowed 1 run on 8 hits in 9 innings. Pittsburgh, at 75-82, has lost 8 straight.

Bill Buckner made it 2-1, Chicago, in the top of the tenth when he hit a sacrifice fly. It was a big at-bat in the Cubs win.

"We did a lot of things right," said Buckner.
