10/01/1978 - Mets Win at Chicago, 9-3

Steve Henderson left his imprint on the 9-3 New York win against the Chicago Cubs. Henderson, who is tied for 5th in the NL in triples with 10, was 4-5 with 4 singles. He drove in 4 runs. Craig Swan got the win, improving to 3-2. He worked 5.1 innings, giving up 2 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 0 and walking 5. New York has a 3-game win streak, while Chicago has lost 3 in a row.

Henderson had a big at-bat with the bases loaded in the top of the seventh inning, when he hit a 2-run single. The Mets went on to win.

"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said New York manager.
