Today is the third game in the series in Chicago between the Cubs and the Giants. The two teams have split the first two games with the Cubs ending the Giants eleven game winning streak yesterday.

Cleveland Naps SP Glenn J Liebhardt has a torn meniscus and will miss the rest of the season.

In the top of the first, Smith was injured while trying to help turn a double play and had to leave the game. He was replaced by Pat Moran.

In the bottom of the second, Steinfeldt tried to lay down the squeeze bunt but Schulte was thrown out at home. But Moran came through later in the inning with a three run homer as the injury replacement ended up benefiting the Cubs.

In the top of the third, the Giants scored a run on a single by Donlin. Dahlen then tied the game with a two run triple. That put Dahlen in 13th place in history with the most triples with 158. Dahlen then scored to give the Giants the lead when Gilbert grounded out to second.

In the bottom of the third, the Cubs loaded the bases with one out. A Steinfeldt fly ball to center produced nothing and therewere two outs. Slagle then struck out to end the inning.

After three: New York 4 Chicago 3.

In the bottom of the fourth, Moran picked up his fourth RBI of the game when his groundout to third brought Kling home with the tying run. Later in the inning, Hofman swiped second for his 10th stolen base of the season. But he would be stranded there as Evers grounded to short to end the inning.

In the top of the fifth, Bowerman gave the Giants the lead back with a sacrifice fly.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Cubs loaded the bases with two out. But this time Moran would ground out to third to end the inning.

In the top of the sixth, Browne doubled to bring home a run but he injured his leg sliding into second and had to leave the game. He was replaced by Ollie Pickering.

In the bottom of the sixth, Chance got an RBI double.

After six: New York 6 Chicago 5.

In the bottom of the eighth, Chance tied the game with an RBI single. After Chance stole second, Schulte brought him home with a single and the Cubs had retaken the lead. Steinfeldt made it a two run game with an RBI double.

The Giants came back in the top of the ninth with pinch hitter Roger Bresnahan bringing home a run with a groundout to short. But with the tying run at second, Devlin flew out to right to end the game.

The two teams combined for 26 hits in the contest.

Final score: Chicago 8 New York 7.
