New York wins the opener 6-1. Game 2 starts with
Ray Bourque scoring early.
Chris Chelios answers, but
Bourque and
Tim Kerr take over. Before the first period ends, both players have 2 goals and 2 assists. It’s 4-1 after a period. The
Islanders add a few goals to salt it away.
New York looks too strong for the

With game three tied at 2 heading into the third, the
North Stars take their stand. This is the fightback they needed.
Dave Taylor gets his 11th. After

Islanders,

Dave Hunter adds some insurance. The strong third period gives the
North Stars a 5-3 win! The fightback continues in game four.

New York gets two early 2nd period goals to take a lead in game five, but
Minnesota responds with 2 late 2nd period goals to tie it. The teams then exchanged goals again in the third, which forces an overtime. In overtime, long time
North Star, Darryl Sittler wins it at the 4:54 mark!
Minnesota takes it 5-4, and lead the series!
New York hasn’t lost 3 in a row all season, until now! Game 6 is wild. Take a look at the first period summary. I can’t really relay what happened well enough to even try!
7 goals and a
Minnesota lead after a period. It looks like the scoring would continue. After both teams getting a goal in the first 2 minutes of the second, the goalies shut the door.
Dave Tippett would tie the game just seconds into the third. Neither team could grab a lead, which means overtime for the 2nd straight game. It takes 10 minutes, but
Lucien DeBlois makes sure the series will go 7. He scores for
NY, to win it 6-5!!

Ciccarelli gets his 2nd of the game, making it 2-0.
NY outshoots
Minnesota 11-4 in the first, but they trail.

Early in the 2nd,
Darryl Sittler extends the lead to 3.
Tim Bothwell then scores the
North Stars 4th goal on their 7th shot.
Phil Myre picked a hell of a time to have his worst game!
