In the top of the third, the Cubs executed a successful squeeze play, with Steinfeldt bringing Hofman home with a sacrifice bunt for his 75th RBI of the season.

In the bottom of the fourth, Lumley singled for the Superbas first hit of the game. Jordan followed with his 10th home run of the season with two men on to put the Superbas up 3-2.
Lumley led off the bottom of the sixth with his 20th double of the season. Batch singled with one out to bring Lumley home.

In the top of the eighth, the Cubs got a run on an Evers single, after the Superbas had committed their third error of the game.
Tinker led off the top of the ninth with a single for the Cubs 10th hit of the game. The Cubs put runners at second and third with two out but pinch hitter Pat Moran grounded to short to end the game.
The Cubs out hit Brooklyn 10-5 and lost.
Final score: Brooklyn 4 Chicago 3.
