 In the bottom of the ninth, the Superbas had runners at first and second with two out but pinch hitter Phil Lewis grounded to the pitcher and the game went into extra innings.

 The Superbas put a runner on first in the bottom of the tenth but Lumley popped out to third to end the inning.
 
 In the top of the twelfth, Slagle gave the Cubs the lead with an RBI single.
 
 Brown then got the 1-2-3 in the bottom of the twelfth.
 
 The Cubs finally ended their losing streak as the Superbas committed four errors
