08/22/1981 - Mets Bang Out 7-1 Win Versus Cincinnati

Benefiting from Dave Kingman's productive game, the New York Mets downed the Cincinnati Reds, 7-1. Kingman was 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for the Mets. New York starter Pete Falcone was credited with the win after throwing 101 pitches over 8 innings. His record now stands at 9-8. The last-place Mets now have a win-loss record of 56-66.

The Mets got a big at-bat from second baseman Joel Youngblood. For the game, Youngblood went 3-4 with a double and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI. In the top of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 24th double of the season gave New York a 2-0 lead.
