In the bottom of the second, the Rangers loaded the bases with nobody out. Ford then beat out the 5-4-3 as Burroughs scored the game's first run. King added a sacrifice fly for an RBI. Broberg even got in on the act with an RBI double. Maddox followed with an RBI single. Of the four runs the Rangers got in the inning, only one of them was earned.

In the top of the sixth, the White Sox loaded the bases with two out. But Melton flied to left to retire the side.

In the top of the eighth, with a runner at second and two out, Casey Cox took the mound for the Rangers and got Allen to ground out to second to retire the side.
