In the top of the first, the Twins loaded the bases with two out. Thompson flew out to right to retire the side.
Brye led off the top of the second with a home run. With a runner on second and two out, Stanhouse left the game with a leg injury. He was replaced by Casey Cox who got Braun to pop out to retire the side.
After three: Minnesota 1 Texas 0.
Nelson led off the bottom of the fourth with a home run to tie the game. Later in the inning, Harrah brought a run in with a single to give the Rangers the lead.
In the top of the fifth, with runners at first and second and two out, Jim Panther took the mound for the Rangers and got Killebrew to pop up to retire the side.
After six: Texas 2 Minnesota 1.
Paul Lindblad took the mound for the Rangers in the top of the eighth. With two out, Killebrew tied the game with a solo home run.
Wayne Granger took the mound for the Twins in the bottom of the eighth. The Rangers loaded the bases with two out. Carew then mishandled a grounder by Jim Mason and Burroughs scored the go-ahead run. Lindblad grounded to short to end the inning.
Lindblad then pitched a perfect ninth to get the win.
Final score: Texas 3 Minnesota 2.
