The Rangers resume their road trip with three games in Minnesota against the Twins beginning with a Tuesday double header. The first game of the double header is a makeup game that will have the Rangers batting as the home team. This is the last series of the season between these two teams. The Twins lead the season series 8-7.

In the bottom of the seventh, Tovar threw Nelson out at home as he was trying to score from second on a Wynn single.

In the bottom of the eighth, with runners a first and second and two out, Wayne Granger took the mound for the Twins and got Kubiak to fly out to end the inning.

Dave LaRoche took the mound for the Twins in the bottom of the ninth. Pinch hitter Frank Howard led off with a home run. The Rangers then loaded the bases with one out. Jim Strickland took the mound for the Twins. Mincher grounded into the 4-2 for the second out. Billings tied the game with a single. Harrah then flew to left to send the game into extra innings.

After nine: Minnesota 3 Texas 3.

Paul Lindblad took the mound for the Rangers in the top of the tenth. Brye brought two home with a single.

In the bottom of the tenth, Maddox picked up an RBI single. With runners at the corners and one out, Wynn grounded into the game-ending 6-4-3.

The two teams combined for 28 hits in the contest. Nelson had a 5-hit game.

Final score: Minnesota 5 Texas 4 10 innings.

In the bottom of the first, the Twins loaded the bases with one out. Darwin grounded into the 1-2 for the second out. Thompson then popped to short to end the inning.

In the top of the third, Nelson put the Rangers on the board first with an RBI single.

In the bottom of the third, Maddox threw Braun out at home as he had tagged up from third and try to score on a Carew fly ball.

After three: Texas 1 Minnesota 0.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Twins loaded the bases with one out. Goltz grounded into the 6-2 for the second out. Brye then scored on a passed ball to tie the game.

In the top of the sixth, Burroughs put the Rangers back in front with an RBI single.

After six: Texas 2 Minnesota 1.

Bob Gebhard took the mound for the Twins in the top of the seventh. The Rangers loaded the bases with two out. Nelson then grounded to short to retire the side.

Jim Strickland took the mound for the Twins in the top of the eighth. Burroughs hit a solo home run. With a runner on first and one out, Jim Perry took the mound for the Twins. Kubiak delivered an RBI single.

In the bottom of the eighth, the Twins loaded the bases with nobody out. Horacio Pina took the mound for the Rangers. Pinch hitter Tony Oliva brought two home with a single. Brye walked to reload the bases still with nobody out. Pina then walked Borgmann on four pitches to tie the game. Pinch hitter Jim Holt grounded into the 4-2 for the first out. Tovar brought all three base runners home with a double to give the Twins the lead. Casey Cox took the mound for the Rangers. Killebrew brought Tovar home with a single. Carew added his own RBI single. Darwin was hitby a pitch to load the bases with one out. Oliva popped up to second and there were two out. Harrah fumbled a Brye grounder and Killebrew scored. Borgmann grounded to short to finally end the inning but not before the Twins had scored nine runs.

Wayne Granger took the mound for the Twins in the top of the ninth.

The Twins overcame three errors with a 13-hit attack.

Final score: Minnesota 10 Texas 4.
