In the bottom of the first, despite not having a hit, the Rangers loaded the bases with two out. Harrah struck out looking to end the inning.

In the bottom of the third, Burroughs broke the scoreless tie with a solo home run.

After three: Texas 1 California 0.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Rangers again loaded the bases with two out. A four pitch walk to Harrah brought home a run. Kubiak followed with a two run single.

In the bottom of the sixth, Foster injured his foot and left the game with one out. Dave Sells took the mound for the Angels.

After six: Texas 4 California 0.

In the top of the seventh, Maddox threw Kosco out at home when he had tagged up and tried to score on a Stephenson fly ball.

Tom Dukes took the mound for the Angels in the bottom of the seventh. With two out, Dukes left the game with a back injury and was replaced by Don Rose.

Hand went on to record the complete game shutout.
