In the top of the first, Oliver put the Angels on the board with an RBI single.
In the bottom of the first, Maddox scored from third when Burroughs grounded to short to tie the game.
In the top of the second, the Angels loaded the bases with two out. Alomar lined to left to retire the side.
After beginning the top of the third by striking out Oliver, Stanhouse left the game with a shoulder injury. Bill Gogolewski took the mound for the Rangers.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Rangers loaded the bases with nobody out. Nelson went down on strikes for the first out. Billings brought two home with a single to give the Rangers the lead. Maddox followed with a two run single of his own. Burroughs pitched in with an RBI single as the Rangers put a crooked number up on the board in the inning.
Ron Perranoski took the mound for the Angels in the bottom of the sixth.

In the top of the seventh, with a runner on first and one out, Jim Merritt took the mound for the Rangers.
After a leadoff walk in the bottom of the eighth, Lloyd Allen took the mound for the Angels.
In the top of the ninth, Spencer scored on a wild pitch with two out.
